Don’t Pay, It’s Free @ Your Library

Entertainment for adults is free at the Library! Many times people think of library programs and resources in terms of children only, however, we make a special effort to welcome the adults in our community. Here are some programs and resources available just for you:

Foreign Films
Watch a foreign film at the Library on the second Wednesday of every month (except in August). Every month we screen a different film that will expand your cultural knowledge of the world, at least from an entertainment perspective. We also provide dessert and invite you to bring your dinner to enjoy alongside these films. Doors open at 5:30pm, movie begins promptly at 6pm. Attendees must be over 17 years of age.

Classical Concerts
Our Classical Kaleidoscope Concerts have always been a hit with our patrons. Join us for the next concert scheduled for February 4th and see what all the fuss is about!
The Library hosts a musical concert about four times a year, thanks to the Arcadia Public Library Foundation. Themes, instruments, and musicians vary. Be prepared to enjoy Ernest Chausson’s blended intimacy and brilliance in his Concerto for Violin, Piano, and String Quartert in February. Hayden’s Lark Quartet will add some pristine classical charm. Doors open at 6:30pm, the program begins at 7pm.

Book Discussion Group
Our Adult Book Discussion Group , A Potpourri of Books, meet the fourth Tuesday (10am)  and Thursday (7pm) of the each month January to October. Read or listen to the book (or as much of it as you can) and join fellow readers to discuss. These free discussions are held in the Library Conference Room and no registration is required.
What will we be reading next month? The Greater Journey: Americans in Paris by David McCullough. Stop by the Library, pick-up the book, read it, and then join the discussion on the day that best suits you. Hope to see you there!
Here's the list of the books we will be reading all year long. I'm sure one or two will catch you eye!

Summer Reading Program
The Summer Reading Program is no longer just for kids. Join us as we read all summer long. Submit book reviews, win prizes, and join us for a wonderful concert by the Orange County Guitar Orchestra. Stay tuned for more information!

Other Resources
In addition to those wonderful, fun-filled programs the Library also carries a variety of entertainment resources:

The Library provides access to a large collection of books, audio books, and eBooks on a variety of topics and genres. Chances are we have the book, topic, or genre you are looking for. Can’t find what you are looking for? Let us know!

We carry a large collection of magazines on many topics, why buy them when we provide them for free? Stop by, read in the library or check out your favorite magazine to take home and read.

DVDs, fiction, nonfiction, and television series, and streaming video are available for you through the library. Go online or come in to browse our collection. Make recommendations for additions to our collection, we are listening.

Music CDs
In addition to all of these resources we also provide access to a collection of music CDs. We attempt to cover a multitude of genres. Take a peek at our collection or come in and browse. You’re sure to find something interesting!

I hope some, or all, of these resources caught your eye. Don’t forget to check out our What’s New page for new programs and resources!
