My Favorite Book

All ages are invited to come to the Arcadia Public Library and celebrate National Library Week on Saturday, April 19 from noon to 4 p.m. by posing for a portrait with your favorite book! No purchase is necessary to participate but prints will be available for purchase.

The idea is the brainchild of local photographer Terry Miller. Miller said “I was inspired to do this project by an article I read last year in News Photographer Magazine, (the monthly publication for the National Press Photographer's Association. The article described how a fellow photojournalist in the Midwest came up with the idea of having anyone and hopefully EVERYONE in town show up at the library with their favorite book and have their portrait taken with the book. Like the Midwest library, we’re promoting reading and literacy and hope to have some fun doing it. Selected photos will be put on display in the Library in late May. By all accounts, it was a great success and I’m hoping Arcadia's Favorite Book will be, too.”

Miller will donate 20% of the proceeds of any photos purchased to the Library.
