New Database Functionality
A suite of databases to which the library subscribes just got a whole lot fancier! Our Gale databases, which include General Reference Center Gold, Health and Wellness Resource Center, Opposing Viewpoints Resource Center, Literature Resource Center, and Business and Company Profile ASAP, now have new and improved search alert functionality. This means that you can sign up to have notices sent to either your email or rss-feed aggregator whenever new articles are added to the database that meet whatever search criteria you have previously defined. It's a great tool for staying current with topics without having to continually re-enter a database and re-run searches, and it's easy to find the option: just look at the top of your search results for an orange link that says "Create a Search Alert." For example, if you are interested in Los Angeles real estate, do a search in Business and Company Profile ASAP. At the top of your search results click on the "Create a Search Alert" link. Fill out the requested information, and the next thing you know you will start to receive notices in your inbox or rss-feed aggregator whenever new articles about Los Angeles real estate, in any of potentially hundreds of periodicals, are added to the database. Pretty cool!
